about

I wanted a song the band could do that would have an a capella part, something that would get the crowd singing along. At first I thought the main riff was too 70s-Doobie Brothers, but it grew on me. We often start a show with this one.

lyrics

Howl at the moon
And live like it’s over
The fire will consume you
In the blink of an eye
So come on now raise your glasses high

There are signs to warn you
That we haven’t got much time
Your tears will not out live you
But your kisses will shine
So come on now raise your voices high

Howl at the moon
Find a hand to hold
Leave your cynic at the door
We ain’t going down slow
We’re gonna live, we’re not just getting old

Doctor says you won’t get better
‘Til you take your pills
Take a red one, not those blue ones
You’ll crawl right out your skin

A capella: Howl at the moon (4x)

Everything is temporary
So let’s get on with our lives
Come on now make the muses cry
Come on now howl at the moon

Howl at the moon
Howl at the moon
Howl at the moon
Howl at the moon

about

John Pippus Vancouver

"Reminiscent and harkening in spirit, in some ways, to Neil Young’s classic “Harvest,” Pippus and friends have made something much richer in tone and certainly more fitting for 2022.”
